Gerlikon is a village on a hill southwest of Frauenfeld in the canton of Thurgau . In 1998 Gerlikon was incorporated into the city of Frauenfeld. Before Gerlikon was a local church Part of that Munizipalgemeinde Gachnang .

history

Gerlikon was first mentioned in 1248 as Gerlichoven . In addition to the village of Gerlikon, the local community comprised the following farms:

The Reichenau ministerial family of Gerlikon resided in Gerlikon, which flourished in the second half of the 13th century. Around 1300 most of the goods from von Gerlikon went to the Feldbach Monastery, with a few to the Töss Monastery . The lower jurisdiction came to the Frauenfeld city court.

Probably in connection with the legend of the pious Heinrich Pfrintz, the construction of the St. George's Chapel, which was first mentioned in 1429, took place in the first half of the 13th century. Gerlikon belonged to the church of Gachnang, but had its own church property , which was dissolved in 1874 in favor of the new school building. From then on, the chapel served as a fire station. Since the renovation, which was completed in 1948, Reformed services have taken place again.

Since the 1970s, Gerlikon, which was previously a rural area, has been developing into a residential community with heavy building activity (new construction quarters Weberlis Rebberg and Oberi Breiti).
