Gündelhart-Hörhausen was a local community in the Steckborn district in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland until 1998 . Before 1953 it was only called Gündelhart and belonged to the municipality of Steckborn . With the Thurgau municipal reform, Gündelhart and Hörhausen became part of the political municipality of Homburg TG on January 1, 1999 .

history

Gündelhart Castle

The Franconian noblewoman Thiotind bequeathed her property in Gundelinhart to the St. Gallen monastery between 872 and 883 . Hörhausen was not put on record until the 11th century by a knight von Huonerhusin . Reichenau Abbey was wealthy in Gündelhart and Hörhausen . After a few changes of ownership, the Lanz von Liebenfels family is mentioned as the court mistress in Gündelhart around 1510. In 1572 Gündelhart was detached from the Liebenfels rule and formed its own jurisdiction . From 1622 to 1798 the Lower Court with the castle built from 1645 to 1646 belonged mainly to the Uri von Beroldingen family. Gündelhart and Hörhausen formed a local community of the municipality of Steckborn from 1803 to 1998. Gündelhart was originally in the Pfyn parish . The village has had its own parish since 1523. In 1869 Hörhausen came to Gündelhart from Pfyn. After the Reformation in 1528/1529, the judge enforced the return to the Catholic faith in 1531. In the 19th century, cattle breeding, dairy farming and fruit growing replaced vine and arable farming. The first cattle breeding cooperative was founded around 1891. At the beginning of the 20th century, with the immigration of Bernese farming families, denominational relationships changed, while the farming and commercial livelihood structure has been preserved to the present day. At the end of the 20th century, the place developed into a rural housing estate. Gündelhart has been part of the political community of Homburg TG since 1999.
