Wilen bei Neunforn , Swiss-German Wiile bi Nüüfere , is a settlement on the border between the cantons of Thurgau and Zurich in Switzerland .
Wilen bei Neunforn TG belonged until 1995 as a local church to Thurgau Munizipalgemeinde Neunforn and since January 1, 1996 Part of the political community Neunforn. Wilen bei Neunforn ZH belonged to the municipality of Oberstammheim from 1798 to 2018 and to Stammheim since 2019 .
geography
Wilen is nestled at the end of a small high valley between the Stammerberg and the Thurtal . The Dorfstrasse is also the canton border and divides the settlement into a Thurgau and Zurich part. The small Wilenersee southeast of the village is the retreat of the glacier of Würm emerged.
history
Wilen was first mentioned in a document as Wilare in 909 . The St. Gallen monastery acquired two hubs in Wilen in an exchange and the surrounding monasteries of St. Katharinental and Kalchrain also owned farms there. Wilen was divided into the three lower courts of Niederneunforn , Oberneunforn and Stammheim, all of which were under Zurich rule from 1694 to 1798 . Wilen was attacked and looted by the French revolutionary armies in connection with the Second Coalition War in 1800 .
Wilen is divided by the canton border: The Zurich part belonged to Oberstammheim from 1798 to 2018 and to Stammheim since 2019. Wilen in Thurgau was from 1803 to 1853 part of the local community of Niederneunforn of the then municipal community of Neunforn . From 1853 to 1886 the whole village formed a civil parish on the basis of a Thurgau-Zurich treaty , but remained divided between Oberstammheim and Neunforn. The church, school and poor system for the whole village was transferred to the parish of Neunforn. In 1862, Hof Hub was separated from the local community of Uerschhausen and assigned to the local community of Wilen bei Neunforn.
From 1887 to 1995 the Thurgau part was a separate local parish of the municipality of Neunforn.
Ecclesiastically all of Wilen always belonged to Neunforn.

The Zurich part of the village has around 55 inhabitants, the Thurgau part had 45 in 2000, 33 in 2010 and 41 in 2018.
education
The parents of the pupils from Wilen ZH can choose whether they want to send their children to primary school in Stammheim or in Oberneunforn.
economy
In economic terms, agriculture, livestock and dairy farming predominate. Today ten farmers, some of them part-time, are still working in Wilen.
societies
The gymnastics club TV Wilen-Neunforn, which was founded in Wilen, is of considerable importance. The Wilen-Neunforn ice hockey club plays in the Frauenfeld ice rink .
