Geographical location
Kirchen-Hausen is located in the south of Baden-Württemberg, south of the Swabian Alb and north of the Hegau. The Black Forest (to the west) and Lake Constance (to the east) are not far away. At the end of the Aitrach valley, the village stretches along the Aitrach and almost reaches its confluence with the Danube. The district of Kirchen is mostly still in the Aitrach Valley, Hausen, in contrast, is almost entirely in the narrowing of the middle Baar between the Wartenberg, the northernmost cone of the Hegau volcanism, and the Hohenrück “length”. The town hall in the center of the town is 678 m above sea level. The soil consists mainly of limestone, marl and dolomite rock.
Expansion of the area
The total area of the parish Kirchen-Hausen is 1,504 hectares (as of July 31, 2011) Kirchen-Hausen is the largest district of the city of Geisingen.
history
Kirchen-Hausen was first mentioned in 764 as Chiriheim in a deed of donation from the St. Gallen monastery . The place was the mother church and dean's seat for a large area. A Christian house of worship was built around 600.
The district of Hausen was the seat of many aristocrats in the Middle Ages (cf. Neu-Sunthausen Castle ). Konrad von Nendingen is mentioned in 1359 , who runs his government business from here. At the beginning of the 14th century, the place came to the Fürstenberg dynasty .
Both were assigned to the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806 . In 1961 the parish "Kirchen und Hausen" was renamed "Kirchen-Hausen". The formerly independent municipality was incorporated into the city of Geisingen on April 1, 1972. Until December 31, 1972, Kirchen-Hausen belonged to the former district of Donaueschingen .
In 2014 the 1250th anniversary was celebrated with a festival. The second book on Kirchen-Hausen was published on this occasion.

School and kindergarten
school
Kirchen-Hausen has its own primary school. Around seventy children from Kirchen-Hausen and Aulfingen attend the Kirchen-Hausen primary school. You will be taught by four teachers. Since the school is located on the edge of the forest and has a large environment, the students can use free spaces to learn, discover and play. The school profile resulted from the location of the building. The school tries to bring the local nature closer to the children and in this way to convey to them the uniqueness of nature and its value.
Kindergarten and crèche
The St. Marien Catholic Kindergarten is located in the Kirchen district and has two standard groups. Since April 1, 2015, a day nursery (from three months) has also been set up.
Culture, sights and leisure
Buildings
St. Mary's Church
Around the year 600 a chapel belonging to an Alemannic aristocratic family was relocated from the Hintsching boundary to the foot of the Kirchener Steig and expanded there to become the first parish church, which gave "Chiriheim" its first well-known name. Following old custom, it has Peter and Paul as patrons, but it can be proven that it was consecrated to Our Lady as early as 1447 and built between 1703 and 1730 in its current basic form, which is also underlined by the two baroque side altars from 1723, while the sacrament niche in the choir from the choir, which was uncovered in 1987 Dates to around 1500. The center of the baroque high altar is above the tabernacle the patron saint “Maria with the child” in a radiant crown, flanked by the former patron saints Peter and Paul, while the martyr and helper in need Katharina dominates the right and the “confessional saint” John of Nepomuk the left side altar . In the years 1860 to 1876 the nave was lengthened by five meters. The organ from 1880 was manufactured by the Schwarzesche Orgelfabrik from Constance. The case comes from the Constance sculptor Eberle. The interior of the church was thoroughly overhauled in 1890, 1927, 1960 and 1987. In 2009 the roof and parts of the outer walls / plaster had to be renewed. The now Catholic church is located in the Kirchen district .
St. Anthony Chapel
On the "Bergle" stands the Antonius Chapel in a very idyllic setting. Their patron is a 4th century hermit . The chapel was a very popular destination for devout pilgrims and was one of the few chapels to withstand the Wessenberg reforms around 1780. Only the hermit, who has guarded the small sanctuary since 1728, had to move to Hüfingen in 1789. Around 1910 the “Bruderhäusle” next to the chapel was demolished. The chapel was built as a late Gothic building in 1500 when the worship of Antonius reached a high point in southern Germany. The oldest votive tablet from 1791 depicts the cattle patron against plague and epidemic with a pig, which is why farmers like to give the saint the honorary title "Suu-Toni". In 1788 the chapel was given a dainty rococo altar and in 1789 a "little bell" that called the faithful to the rosary every Sunday at 12:00. In 1889 a Lourdes grotto of Mother Mary was built near the chapel.
Hausener Marienkapelle
The Hausener Marienkapelle was built in the 1860s by the then Adlerwirt. The locals affectionately refer to it as "Hausener Minster". Inside there is a figure of the Madonna surrounded by a halo and also two well-preserved paintings from the disbanded Amtenhausen monastery, St. John of Nepomuk and St. Joseph with the baby Jesus. The chapel was restored in 1980/81.
Sunthausen ruins
At the beginning of the 14th century, the lords of Reckenbach appeared for the first time as feudal people of the Counts of Fürstenberg. These gentlemen ran a brick factory in the Kilteltal near Huusen (today Hausen), while another vassal, the Lordship of Sunthausen, ran the Eselsteigmühle built by the Lordship of Fürstenberg an der Aytrach (today Aitrach) in Erblehen. In the 14th century the plague raged on the Baar and decimated the number of inhabitants. And what the plague did not achieve, the so-called "Lupfener Feud" did since 1411, which only came to an end with the death of the two brothers Konrad and a few years later with the death of Bruno von Lupfen in 1435. During this feud between Fürstenberg and Lupfen , the country was repeatedly devastated and the villages burned down. The population, already weakened by the plague, lost their last possessions. Whole homesteads and settlements became deserted, some of them were abandoned by the survivors and went under. With the progressive dissolution of the empire structure, the small feuds steadily increased. Sunthausen am Gauert Castle , which dominates the transition from Hegau to Baar due to its location above the Kilteltal , also fell victim to these conditions . From this castle the comrades of the knight Hans von Reckenbach had repeatedly undertaken raids against Schaffhausen until it became too much for their citizens. They raided the castle and completely destroyed it. Only a field name and a few remains remind of this castle.
Church hall
The church hall is located at the northern entrance to Kirchen-Hausen. Numerous cultural events take place here, such as B. Music concerts, theater performances, village festivals, dance events. The primary school uses the hall for all physical education. In addition, the local clubs use the premises for trial and training sessions. The usable area of the gym and festival hall has a size of 400 m², plus the stage extension, which was inaugurated in April 2011, with an area of 88 m². The hall has a kitchen with dishes for approx. 400 people. There are two changing rooms and a shower area on the ground floor. With seating without tables, there is space for 550 people in the hall. There is space for 360 people in the hall with tables.
Leitelsteighütte
The festival hut in the “Leitelsteig” area can be rented by associations and private individuals from the Geisingen area.
Economy and Infrastructure
Industry and tourism
The once purely rural village is now a modern village with many jobs in trade and industry. For nature lovers, there are many opportunities for hiking in the woods and fields, and cyclists can also use a large number of cycle paths. Annually increasing numbers of overnight stays show that tourism is at home in church houses.
traffic
The place is on the Wutachtalbahn and has two ring train stops (Geisingen-Kirchen and Geisingen-Hausen). Kirchen-Hausen can be reached via the BAB 81 (Stuttgart – Singen), exit Geisingen (no. 38), or via the federal road 31 / federal road 33 or federal road 311 Freiburg-Ulm.
