Aulfingen is a district of the city of Geisingen in the southwest of the Tuttlingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

Aulfingen is located in the Aitrachtal and on the Wutachtalbahn with a ring train stop .

The total area of ​​the Aulfingen district is 1,204 hectares (as of July 31, 2011).

history

Aulfingen was first mentioned in a document as Auwolvica in 773 . However, grave finds suggest that settlement existed much earlier. The remains of a Roman estate were also found in the Aulfingen area. The Aulfingen Church of St. Nikolaus is first attested as a chapel in 1437. It was rebuilt in 1488 and 1749 and designed in the neo-baroque style in 1912 .

In 1776 the rule of Aulfingen came to the Princely House of Fürstenberg , which still owns a large part of the area today.

On January 1, 1973, Aulfingen moved from the Donaueschingen district, which was dissolved by the district reform , to the Tuttlingen district. Aulfingen has been part of Geisingen since January 1st, 1974.

Population development

The place had 492 inhabitants on June 6, 1961, there are currently 569 (as of December 31, 2015) and thus forms the smallest district.
