history

Sunthausen Castle was built in the second half of the 13th century by the noble lords of Sunthausen . In 1413 "Nuwen Sunthausen, the festivals" was then sold by Hainrich von Sunthausen to the Lords of Reischach , who also sat in the Stettener Schlösschen to the south . In the middle of the 15th century, Hans von Rechberg then owned the castle. The end of the system came in 1446 through the city of Schaffhausen , with which Hans was in feud . Although he was able to flee in time, the castle was destroyed to the ground. After that, the ruinous castle is again in the possession of the Lords of Reischach. They sold the Burgstall Sunthausen in 1588 to the Counts of Fürstenberg .

Small remains of the wall have survived from the former castle complex, which had a 20 to 30 meter wide and 15 to 20 meter deep neck ditch .
