The castle ruins Altfridingen , also called Alt-Fridingen , describe the high medieval remains of a city desert at 790.7  m above sea level. NN near Fridingen on the Danube in the Tuttlingen district in Baden-Württemberg . There is no connection with the Burgstall Krinnerfels or Grinnerfels.

Geographical location

The former town stood on an elongated hilltop, on the southern valley side of the Danube , not far from the Kallenberg castle ruins and about 1,650 meters northwest of the church of the town of Fridingen.

history

The hill fort was probably built in the 13th century as a counter-foundation to the neighboring town of Mühlheim. After 1330, Altfridingen lost its importance to the re-establishment, today's small town Fridingen, which is located at the old settlement. The last documented news comes from the 15th century.

description

Traces of the terrain and small remains of walls made of quarry stone have been preserved from the town .

The mountain peak used for the construction is 70 meters wide and 150 meters long. The former enclosure wall is clearly recognizable on the entire south side as an overgrown rubble mound. The entrance is in the eastern third. The northeast side still shows small remains of the wall. Inside one encounters cellar hollows and rubble mounds from 12 buildings. A castle is suspected to be in the northern tip, but there is no direct evidence of this in the area.
