Schenkenberg Castle

The castle Schenkenberg is an Outbound Höhenburg the type of tower castle on a spur above the chapel Schenkenberg chapel about 2,500 meters south of Emmingen, a modern district of the municipality Emmingen-Liptingen in district Tuttlingen in Baden-Württemberg .

The castle was built in the 12th century by the lords of Schenkenberg and mentioned in 1169 with Dietho von Schenkenberg, who appeared as a witness in a document from the Salem monastery . 1412, were lords of Heudorf by the Counts of Zollern with the castle invested . The castle was probably destroyed before 1471, as it was only called a court or fiefdom from 1471.

From the former castle complex on a 15 by 21 meter castle hill, only small remains of walls, falls and bricks have survived.
