Hamit Akbay (* 1900 ; † unknown) was a Turkish football goalkeeper and official. He worked for Fenerbahçe Istanbul as a goalkeeper and also as a club official.

Player career

society

Akbay's career is incompletely documented. He belonged from the first half of the 1920s to the squad of the Istanbul club Süleymaniye Sirkeci SK and played with this in the İstanbul Ligi (German Istanbul League ). Since there was no national professional league in Turkey at that time , regional leagues existed instead in metropolitan areas such as Istanbul , Ankara and Izmir , of which İstanbul Ligi (also called İstanbul Futbol Ligi) was considered the most renowned. For this club he played until the summer of 1924 and then moved to Ankara to Muhafızgücü . With this club he was able to win the Ankara Futbol Ligi (German Football League Ankara ) in the 1924/25 season.

Akbay returned to Istanbul after just one season and moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul . He played for his new club for two years.

National team

Akbay began his national team career in 1924 with a commitment for the Turkish national team in the Balkan Cup against the Estonian national team . By October 1925, he completed five more games.
