Hamlet Mchitarjan ( Armenian Համլետ Մխիթարյան ; Russian Гамлет Мхитарян ; born September 14, 1962 in Yerevan ; † May 2, 1996 ibid) was a Soviet - Armenian football player and the father of Henrich Mchitarjan .
Life
Hamlet Mchitarjan was born in Yerevan in 1962 and started playing football at an early age. In 1980 he was brought into the professional Ararat Yerevan team - at the time a Soviet first division team . The striker Mchitarjan fought for a regular place in the team and ran up to 1987 in a total of 170 games, in which he scored 46 goals. From 1988 to 1989 he went to Kotajk Abowjan before he got a contract offer from France and in 1989 he moved to ASOA Valence . He remained there until 1994, before he finally ASA Issy went. In 1994 he also had two appearances in the Armenian national soccer team.
However, he soon had to stop playing football because he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After all attempts at treatment had failed, he and his family moved back to his hometown, where Mchitarjan died in May 1996.
Hamlet Mchitarjan was married and had two children: daughter Monika (* 1986) and son Henrich (* 1989), who also became a soccer player.
