Hammam-Lif ( Arabic حمام الأنف, DMG Ḥammām al-Anf ) is a famous health resort in Tunisia . It is located 16 kilometers southeast of Tunis on the Gulf of Tunis .

The mountain Djebel Boukornine ( 576  m ) dominates the views from Hammam-Lif.

history

Under the name Aquae Persianae it was already a bathing resort with the Romans . His Punic name was Naro . The Bey of Tunis , Ali Pasha, highlighted the place in the middle of the 18th century. The remains of Roman thermal baths built by Caius Julius Perseus and the remains of the Naro synagogue were discovered there .

The population in 2014 was 42,518.

Sports

The largest football club in the city, Club Sportif de Hammam-Lif, plays in the Tunisian first division in the 2015/16 season .
