Hammer is a German retail chain that offers products and services related to interior design . It is the retail sales channel of the Brüder Schlau GmbH & Co. KG, which is headquartered in the East Westphalian town of Porta Westfalica .

Company history

The first DIY and home improvement stores opened in Germany in the early 1970s. Then the owner Eberhard Beeth developed his own specialist store concept - the Hammer specialist stores. In 1976 the first two Hammer specialist stores were founded in Bremerhaven and Lübbecke . The 100th store opened in 1996. Today there are more than 200 Hammer specialist markets.

With Home Market GmbH based in Aachen, the Brothers Schlau group took over a specialist market group for home textiles and interior design that offers wallpapers, floor coverings, paints, curtains and services on December 31, 2016. The takeover comprised 69 branches that have been operated under the names Home Market , Ihr Teppichfreund and Teppich Essers so far (as of 2018).

Together with the branches taken over, the specialty store chain employed around 5,600 people in the 2017 financial year and generated sales of € 544 million . In addition to the salespeople, the company employs skilled craftsmen. Hammer is an employer for interior decorators, floor layers as well as upholstery and decoration sewers.

Hammer sells products from the range of paints, wallpapers, floor coverings, bathroom furniture and textiles, curtains and sun protection systems, awnings, bedding, mattresses, upholstered and box spring beds as well as home accessories. The supply of goods to the Hammer specialist stores takes place via the central warehouse of the Brothers Schlau group .

In autumn 2017, Hammer added a Click & Collect shop to its stationary trade .

In addition to the product groups, Hammer offers services in various areas, such as B. Planning work, delivery service and maintenance and repairs.
