In 2011, 82 branches under the name of your rug friend , rug Essers or Home Market and over 650 employees throughout Germany were managed from the company headquarters in Aachen, Germany.
history
In 1911 Peter Essers opened a painting shop on Adalbertsteinweg in Aachen. As early as 1925, the range was expanded to include carpets and linoleum. In the war year 1943, large parts of the Adalbertsteinweg were destroyed by bombs and Peter Essers had to cease business operations. The reconstruction followed in the next few years and as early as 1948 the Essers family was able to reopen the shop on a significantly larger sales area under the name of Carpet Essers . Years of growth followed. In 1959 Peter Essers Junior took over the management of the company and from 1972 began to open further stores in Düren and Alsdorf .
By 1989, a total of eight branches had been set up in North Rhine-Westphalia under the name Carpet Essers , as well as three more in Switzerland.
In 1990, Carpet Essers & Söhne GmbH opened the first branch in the new federal states under the name Ihr Teppichfreund . Five years later, 25 new locations had already been set up in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. In 1999, Teppich Essers & Söhne GmbH merged with the French group Saint Maclou, which is part of the Association Familiale Mulliez .
On December 31, 2016, Carpet Essers & Söhne GmbH was taken over by Brüder Schlau GmbH & Co. KG .
