Han temporal tombs of the Zhongshan rulers

The Han temporal tombs of the Zhongshan rulers ( Chinese  汉 中山 王墓 , Pinyin Hàn Zhōngshān wáng mù ) are different graves of Zhongshan rulers from the time of the Han dynasty .

They are located in the area of Dingzhou Gebiet 州市 - the former Ding County (定 县 "Dingxian") - in the Chinese province of Hebei . These are tombs from the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties . Your time is given as about −154 to +184. They are scattered across the east, west and south of Dingzhou. There are many side graves. There were plenty of grave goods and cultural relics.

Since 1959, the graves of the rulers Jian of Zhongshan (Liu Yan), Mu of Zhongshan (Liu Chang), Huai of Hongshan (Liu Xiu) as well as the graves Sanpanshan No. 120 to 122 and Lingbei No. 137 have been excavated.

The graves have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (5-147) since 2001 .

Tomb of Liu Xiu, Prince Huai of Zhongshan (Western Han Dynasty)

The “Huangchang ticou” arrangement was chosen for the grave of Liu Xiu 刘 修 (d. −55), the so-called grave no. 40, the grave lord wore a funeral robe made of jade plates sewn with gold thread , various bamboo tablet texts were excavated ( see below), including a version of the conversations of Confucius ( Lunyu ) and Wenzi - the "Bajiaolang bamboo tablets of Wenzi " ( Bajiaolang jian Wenzi ) - text finds that shed new light on the textual history of these works.

Bamboo texts

Text finds discovered there are usually summarized under the name Dingxian Hanjian定 县 汉 简 ("Han-period bamboo writing tablets from Dingxian") or Dingzhou Hanmu zhujian定州 汉墓 竹简 (" Bamboo tablets of the Han grave of Dingzhou"). In detail, these are the texts:

The text finds are kept by the Hebei Provincial Museum; some of the texts were lost in the 1976 Tangshan earthquake .

Tomb of Liu Yan, Prince Jian of Zhongshan (Eastern Han Dynasty)

174 inscribed blocks of stone ( shikuai ) were discovered in the tomb of Liu Yan 刘焉, on which many place names of the Zhongshan Empire and its neighbors are recorded, a valuable find for the historical geography of Zhongshan and for Chinese palaeography.

Tomb of Liu Chang, Prince Mu of Zhongshan (Eastern Han Dynasty)

In the grave of Liu Chang 刘畅, grave no. 43, a funeral robe made of jade plates sewn with silver thread and a large number of exquisite gold, silver, bronze, iron and jade artifacts were discovered.
