The 16th Asian women's handball championship was held from March 13-22 , 2017 in Suwon , South Korea . The host was the Asian Handball Federation (AHF). South Korea won the title for the 13th time.

All games of the 2017 Asian Cup were played in the Suwon Gymnasium , a multi-purpose hall in the Suwon Sports Complex in Suwon with a capacity of 5,145 spectators.

Group draw

The draw for the two preliminary round groups was made on January 11, 2017 at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium in Seoul . The Maldives withdrew their participation after the draw. As a result, the team originally drawn in Group B was moved from Vietnam to Group A in order to be able to carry out the tournament in two groups of four.
