from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Latvian Commercial Code ( Latvian Komerclikums - “The Commercial Law of the Republic of Latvia ”) is a Latvian law in the field of commercial law passed in 2000 . It is a codified legal act, a commercial code , valid since 2002. The commercial code defines the terms of the entrepreneur (lett. Komersants , “ trader ”), commercial activity (lett. Komercdarbība - “commercial activity (s)”), the commercial register (lett. komercreģistrs ), other commercial law terms, concepts, the conditions and restrictions of entrepreneurial activity.

The Latvian Commercial Code, along with other legislation in Latvia, is considered to be one of the most important legal measures that form the basis of the modern national economy. In addition, it was hoped that it would contribute to the transparency of business processes and the predictability of economic conditions, so that the stability of economic development could be guaranteed. In order to facilitate the application of the Commercial Code, a commentary on the law was written by Aigars Strupiss , a lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the University of Latvia .
