Handspring

The handstand rollover is an element in apparatus gymnastics and in sport acrobatics . This is a quick forward hand support rollover that is carried out from a standing start or starting up. In apparatus gymnastics, it is shown on the floor and jump , but also as a finish on the balance beam .

The handstand rollover begins with a hop, accompanied by a quick arm pull upwards so that the upper body and arms form a line. The front leg now presses against the floor while the upper body and arms are quickly moved downwards. At the same time, the second leg (swing leg) swings upwards. Put your hands on the floor and the second leg follows the swing leg. After the legs have passed the vertical, the impression is made with the hands. The gymnast lands on both feet.

In addition to the extended handstand rollover described above, a spread handstand rollover can also be performed. With this so-called rollover, the swing leg is also the landing leg. The gymnast only lands on one foot.

In floor gymnastics, the handstand roll over often serves as a connection element to difficulties such as forward somersaults , screw somersaults and similar elements.
