The Hanging Gardens ( English for hanging gardens ) are moss-covered terraces on Signy Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . They are located east of Green Gable and extend in a north-easterly direction to Paal Harbor .

Scientists from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey conducted surveys between 1947 and 1950. Aerial photographs were taken in 1968 by the Royal Navy . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them descriptively in 2004 after their appearance.
