Johanna Rika Hermanna (Hanja) Maij-Weggen (born December 29, 1943 in Klazienaveen , municipality of Emmen ) is a Dutch politician ( CDA ).

Maij-Weggen initially worked as a nurse and in social pedagogy, later as a secondary teacher and university lecturer. She initially belonged to the ARP and moved to the CDA in 1980. She was a member of the European Parliament from 1979 to 1989 and from 1994 to 2003 . From 1989 to 1994 she was Minister for Transport and Waterways in the Lubbers III cabinet . From 2003 until her retirement in 2009 she was the Queen's agent in the province of Noord-Brabant .
