The Hann (also Han , Hahn , Han zu Hanfelden ) were a noble family from Styria .

history

Hanfelden Castle in: GM Vischer : Topographia Ducatus Stiriae , 1681.

Nothing is known about the origin of the sex. At the beginning of the 15th century, Caspar Hann and Hans Han (n) the Elder owned the royal court in Unterzeiring . Whether these are brothers cannot be proven; but both held the office of toll leaseholder on the Triebener Tauern . Around 1410, Caspar Hann began building a noble residence , which later became Hanfelden Castle in the Murtal . He was married to the Graz noblewoman Affra vom Graben (Grabner). As a result of this marriage, the Hof am Graben in Graz and the Ludmannsdorf estate from the Graben were first transferred to the Hann and then to the Fladnitz . In 1422, the couple sold goods in Semriach to Steinwald von Fladnitz. In 1478 Caspar's son Achaz Hann (also Achatz) exchanged with Emperor Friedrich III. his town house at Paulustor in Graz for the fiefdom of his court in Rohr near Puzendorf . He sold his mining rights at Am Graben in Graz in 1471. Since Achaz had no descendants of his own, he bequeathed the Ludmannsdorf estate, rights to Sulm and Leibniz property and similar property to his two sisters Katrein and Margret Hann.

After the invaded Turks burned down Caspar Hann's noble residence, it was rebuilt as a castle in 1494 by Hans Han the Younger (1450–1516), whose name it was also given. He was also the toll leaseholder on the Triebener Tauern, and the further caretaker to Frohnleiten , bailiff and Mautner to Oberzeiring and Unterzeiring. In 1528 Hansen's son Peter Han zu Hanfelden sold goods on the Teuffenbach to Peter Galler . Since Peter was the last male Han, Hanfelden passed on to the Protestant bourgeois family Rauchberger from Judenburg, who later belonged to the lower nobility as Rauchberger zu Hanfelden, through the son of Peter's sister Ursula Han, Hans Rauchberger .
