Hanna Mayer (* 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian nursing scientist and head of the Institute for Nursing Science at the University of Vienna .

Hanna Mayer completed her training as a health and nurse at the nursing school in Rudolfinerhaus Vienna in 1988 . In 2001 she completed her doctorate in education with the dissertation The training of teachers in health and nursing. Evaluation and redesign of the university course for teachers of health and nursing in Vienna at the University of Vienna. From 1996 to 2007 Hanna Mayer worked as a freelance nursing scientist in teaching and research in German-speaking countries. From 2007 to 2010 she was a contract professor for nursing science at the University of Vienna, where she was appointed university professor for nursing science in 2010 and has been teaching and researching internationally since then. Hanna Mayer has been Head of the Institute for Nursing Science since 2007. From 2012 to 2016 she was Vice Dean for Teaching at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Vienna.

She is a member of the ethics committee of the University of Vienna and on advisory boards of various specialist journals on the subject of nursing and publisher of the QuPuG, journal for qualitative research in nursing and health science.

In addition to her job, Hanna Mayer is a member of the “Donautheater Krems” theater association and has played numerous roles in the classical and modern repertoire.
