Hannelore Vogt (* 1958 in Marktbreit , Bavaria) is a German librarian , cultural manager and director of the Cologne City Library since 2008 .

Life

After graduating as a qualified librarian and cultural manager ( MA ) , Vogt completed a doctorate on the subject of " library marketing ".

Under her leadership, the Würzburg City Library was voted " Library of the Year " by the German Library Association (DBV) , achieved first place in the Germany-wide BIX library ranking four times in a row and was awarded the "Bavaria Online Prize for Innovative Internet Services" excellent.

Since 2008 Hannelore Vogt has headed the Cologne City Library , one of the largest library systems in Germany. In 2015 the Cologne City Library was also named “Library of the Year”. a. this because it fulfills its role as a neighborhood meeting place and as a creative meeting place excellently and because a successful concept has been implemented, "which can only be achieved elsewhere with a new building" and thus shows the potential dormant in libraries. Under the motto “hands-on knowledge”, she promoted digital education with a range of new learning concepts that focus on active participation. Their innovations include the redesign of the interior architecture of the Cologne library system (using " Design Thinking " ), as well as the loan of items that are not typical of the library, such as musical instruments and robots.

In 2018 she initiated Germany's first MINT festival. In the same year, she opened the newly designed Cologne-Kalk district library, the first consistent implementation of her vision of a future-proof library as an experimental knowledge space.

In 2019 she received the Karl Preusker Medal . An award from the umbrella association of library associations, Library & Information Germany (BID) eV, which is awarded annually to a person or institution that has made outstanding contributions to the library system. In its justification, the jury referred to the impact of their thinking and actions far into the German and international library scene. Her “willingness to take risks and unconventional approaches” and “groundbreaking strategic work” are certified.

Vogt also works as a speaker at home and abroad. She holds u. a. Lectures worldwide for the Goethe-Institut and was also a strategic advisor for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation . She has published on the subjects of customer orientation, lobbying, library management and personnel development.
