from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cologne Culture Prize has been awarded annually in two categories since 2010 by the Kölner Kulturrat eV, which unites the development associations and institutions of the cultural sector in the city of Cologne. The prize is intended to honor outstanding achievements and pioneering developments in culture in Cologne. It is awarded in the categories of cultural manager of the year and cultural event of the year . The prize for the best cultural event of the year consists of prize money of 5,000 euros. In addition, an honorary award can be given to people or institutions who have made a special contribution to Cologne's culture and who are not included in the other two categories. In 2016, a "Young Initiative" was awarded for the first time as part of the Cologne Culture Prize, which has made a contribution to promoting, presenting and networking young cultural workers. This new award is endowed with prize money of 5,000 euros, donated by DEG Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH.
