Birlkten - Standing together is the name of a rally against right-wing extremist violence in Germany , which took place for the first time on June 9, 2014 in Cologne (Turkish: birlict: together, together).
Birlkten - Standing together: June 7th - 9th, 2014
Based on an idea by Mario Rispo for a “Birligte” cultural festival , the rally “Birligte - Standing Together” was developed with the support of the Ass huh, Zäng ussenander association, which took place on Whit Monday, June 9, 2014 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the nail bomb attack in Cologne took place on a wasteland in Cologne's Schanzenstrasse . A mixture of speeches and music artists was presented. The planned speakers and musicians included Stefan Aust , Aynur Doğan , Stephan Bachmann , BAP and Wolfgang Niedecken , the Bläck Fööss , Andreas Bourani , Tom Buhrow , Clueso , Wilma Elles , Eko Fresh , Aladin El-Mafaalani , Tommy Engel and LSE , Sertab Erener & Demir Demirkan , Die Fantastischen Vier , Alexa Feser , Uli Hauser , Max Herre , Höhner , Ralf Jäger , the Cologne youth choir Sankt Stephan , Kasalla , Carolin Kebekus , Hardy Krüger senior , Udo Lindenberg , Zülfü Livaneli , Sylvia Löhrmann , Peter Maffay , Microphone Mafia , Giusi Nicolini (Mayor of Lampedusa e Linosa ), Bernhard Paul , Meral Sahin , Isabel Schayani , Wilfried Schmickler , Semiya Şimşek (the daughter of the first victim of the National Socialist Underground ), Serdar Somuncu , Atanasios Tsiolakidis , the Zeltinger Band and Federal President Joachim Gauck , who opened the event. Due to a storm , the event was canceled prematurely, so that some of the planned guests could no longer appear; among other things, the solo performances of Udo Lindenberg and Peter Maffay had to be canceled. The rally was moderated by Sandra Maischberger and Fatih Çevikkollu . The rally was attended by a total of around 70,000 people.
Birligte - Coexistence: June 14, 2015
The rally, which was actually planned as a one-off, took place on June 14, 2015 under a new motto because of the numerous demonstrations by Pegida and Kögida , but also because of the still incomplete NSU process. In addition, the event was limited to one day. There was also no large open-air stage, but the other stages were enlarged so that there was space for more people than in 2014. More than 500 local and national artists appeared on around 30 stages, including Brings , the Bläck Fööss , Die Höhner , Eko Fresh , Cat Ballou , Kasalla , Mariama Kouyaté , Maryam Akhondy , the Microphone Mafia , Syavash Rastani Bandari Trance , Wolf Maahn and Jürgen Zeltinger . In addition to the concerts, there were theater performances, lectures and discussions in the Schauspiel Köln / Carlswerk and in Keupstraße . Participants included Esther Bejarano , Fatih Çevikkollu , Lamya Kaddor , Navid Kermani , Rupert Neudeck and Guntram Schneider . According to estimates by the organizers, the festival had 70,000 visitors, which was the same as last year. The event started at 11 a.m., the last item on the program ended at 11 p.m.
Birligte - Meeting: May 27 - June 5, 2016
At the third repetition of the Birligte Festival, this time under the motto “Talking together”, the program was expanded to include a week of dialogue with various events spread across the city. This began on May 27, 2016. In the course of the dialogue between the participants and artists, scientists, intellectuals and city representatives, the possibilities for a better coexistence were to be explored. The Birligte Festival reached its climax and end on June 5th with the all-day art and culture festival and a rally on Keupstrasse and in the Carlswerk. More than 400 artists were to appear on 25 stages. However, due to a severe weather warning, the central event in Cologne-Mülheim had to be canceled around 4 p.m.
