Werner Jung (born February 28, 1954 in Cologne ) is a German historian and since December 5, 2002 head of the NS Documentation Center of the city of Cologne .

Werner Jung studied history , German and psychology at the University of Cologne . In 1985 he submitted his dissertation Patriotism and Internationalism to the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Cologne under August Bebel .

Since July 1, 1986, Jung has been a research assistant at the NS Documentation Center of the City of Cologne. At the side of the then head Horst Matzerath , this research center was initially only a part of the historical archive of the city of Cologne. It was only with effect from March 25, 1997 that the "NS-Doc" became independent under the direction of the current director Matzerath. After his departure, Werner Jung became director of the NS Documentation Center in Cologne on December 5, 2002.
