Hannes Löschel

Hannes Löschel (* 1963 in Vienna ) is an Austrian musician and composer .

Life

Löschel has been playing the piano since he was five and, after completing his musical training at the University of Music in Vienna, initially performed as an interpreter of contemporary music. From around 1990 he began to develop cross-style work as a composer, ensemble leader and arranger. In 1995 he founded the Austrian trio Löschel Skrepek Zrost, with Paul Skrepek and Martin Zrost , which received the Hans Koller Prize - Album of the Year in 1997 with its first CD While You Wait . He then worked in formations of different styles, including the electroacoustic formation touching with Thomas Lehn and Josef Novotny, as part of the freely improvising trio Kinds with David Tronzo and in his 2008 song cycle "Songs of Innocence" with Phil Minton . Other formations and projects that he co-founded or led a. the Duo Chroma with Elisabeth Flunger , Phls Trio with Peter Herbert and Paul Skrepek, the Velvet Lounge, Kratky Baschik, Kinds of Orchestra, Hannes Löschel Stadtkapelle and weana Korn. As part of concerts and tours, he has performed at numerous festivals and stages in Europe, North and South America, Australia and Japan.

In 2000 he founded the label loewenhertz with 21 productions of current music to date. From 2010 to 2011 he was artist in residence at the Odeon in Vienna.

As a composer, he created works for the ORF, WDR, Bregenz Festival, Music Triennial Cologne, Wien modern, Diagonale, Wiener Volksliedwerk, Jeunesse, Jazzfestival Saalfelden , Glatt & Verkehrt , etc. a. In addition to numerous CD productions and commissioned compositions, he realized productions for music and objects in collaboration with the visual artists Lisi Breuss and Silvia Beck, music for silent films, music for dance productions, stage music for puppet theater pieces as well as a multi-part variety program (Das Unterösterreich ).
