Glatt & Verkehrt is a music festival founded in 1997 for traditional and contemporary ethnic music ( world music ), which takes place annually in Krems an der Donau .

The festival is held in close cooperation with the ORF radio station Ö1 . The venue is the covered courtyard of the main building of the Winzer Krems wine cooperative in the Krems sand pit in the middle of the Krems vineyards .

While almost 1,000 festival visitors were registered in 1997, the year it was founded, in 2003 the number of visitors rose to over 4,000. As of 2011, Glatt & Verkehrt was one of the most important world music festivals in Central Europe. Over 5,000 visitors have been counted annually for many years.

For many years , the artistic direction of the festival was Jo Aichinger , who was awarded the Lower Austrian Culture Prize in 2017 in the music section .

Since 2018 the music festival has been led by its co-founder Albert Hosp .
