Albert Hosp (* 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian music journalist and presenter for the radio program Ö1 .

Life

Hosp studied recorder for five years, violin for ten years, music and theater studies for six years, jazz theory for two years and singing for three years without completing any of these studies.

He has been with ORF radio since 1987 and designs music programs, currently among others for the programs Klassik-Treffpunkt , Spielzimmer and Selected .

From 1990 to 2001 Albert Hosp worked as a choir director, a. a. with the Wiener Singakademie and the Alten Burse choir , as well as ensemble singer and soloist, a. a. in the men's quartet Close Harmony . During this time he wrote numerous a cappella arrangements of spirituals, pop songs and German hits.

As a speaker, he is mainly active in contemporary music. He was involved in world premieres by Peter Androsch , Friedrich Cerha , Kurt Estermann, Hannes Heher, Alexander Stankowski and Otto M. Zykan .

Hosp has been the curator of the Glatt & Verkehrt festival in Krems, which he co-founded and held in close cooperation with Ö1, since 1997 and has been its artistic director since 2018.

Albert Hosp has four children and lives with his family in Vienna.

  • 1993 honorable recognition at the Andreas Reischek Prize for the more than 100-part series Mozart - Passagen 1791 .
  • 2002 Radio Prize of Adult Education Austria in the Culture category for Selected - Current Issues from the Record Market : ORF / Ö1
  • 2010 Radio Prize of Adult Education Austria in the Culture section for Radio College - Music Quarter Hour ( ORF / Ö1 ), together with Ina Zwerger
  • 2016 4th place in the category Best Music Special in the competition New York Festivals - Best Radio Programs in the World
