Live and act

As a guitarist and composer Androsch played already during his school days at the Academic Gymnasium Linz in various local (jazz rock) bands. During high school he began studying jazz with Adelhard Roidinger at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz and, after graduating from high school, economics at the Kepler University in Linz , but initially gave up both studies for a life as a musician. He worked with various musicians such as Günther Gessert and Wolfgang Fadi Dorninger and was part of ensembles such as Monochrome Bleu , So- and-so and the Ensemble Camorra , with whom he made numerous appearances and tours through Austria, Germany and the USA. Currently he forms the band Dr. with Didi Bruckmayr and Bernd Preinfalk . Didi , who is committed to free improvisation .

In terms of instrumental, music theory and composition, Androsch continued his education as a student of Harry Pepl , Werner Pirchner and Keith Goddard in Zimbabwe . It was there that Androsch dealt with the archaic music of the Tonga . Not least because of this, he gradually moved from his musical roots in jazz and pop music to so-called new music . The Festival of the Regions and the Linz State Theater under director Michael Klügl offered Androsch a platform for his first music theater works and operas . The composer Peter Androsch became known to a broad audience with the music for Andreas Gruber's film Hasenjagd - Out of cowardice there is no mercy .

In addition to his musical work, Androsch has also been regularly active in cultural journalism and journalism since the late 1980s . He wrote for the AZ / Upper Austria and the Tagblatt , among others, and has been making contributions to the social, political, economic and ecological dimensions of hearing and acoustic space since 2007. Androsch also teaches at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz .

His extensive interest in the acoustic sphere earned him the appointment of artistic director of the music division of the European Capital of Culture Linz09 . Androsch not only designed a multi-faceted music program with several large-scale projects, but also focused on dealing with acoustic space with the Hörstadt project, which still exists today . In the course of Hörstadt , On the 100th anniversary of the first publication of the Futurist Manifesto under the title The Acoustic Manifesto 2009 , Androsch drafted the Linz Charter for the Sustainable Design and Development of Acoustic Space with the City of Linz and initiated an awareness-raising campaign against forced sound reinforcement in business and catering establishments. In addition, Androsch established a museum-like world of hearing for Linz09 with the Akustikon , which was closed again in 2010 , the main attraction of which was two listening furniture called Polyphon designed by Androsch . The Polyphon I contained sounds from space, the Polyphon II audio samples of music that was forbidden in different epochs and cultures.

2013 founded Androsch with Bernd Preinfalk the music festival ashore , which has since annually in Freistadt and the two churches of St. Peter near Freistadt takes place. This resulted in the network of European advanced music n: eam , which maintains a lively cooperation with cooperation partners in Italy and Germany. In 2017, Androsch conceived and curated the international festival for reverb, space and music Reverb in Regensburg .

Androsch's extra-musical work co-founded the non-partisan platform Respekt.net in 2010.
