After years of activity as a double bass player in the field of improvised and composed music, Preinfalk turned almost exclusively to composition in 1992 after a concert tour through Russia. After self-study - supported by regular consultations with composers of contemporary music - numerous works in the field of chamber music, orchestral and choral music have been created since the end of the nineties, which are performed by well-known performers at home and abroad.

2013 he founded with composer Peter Androsch the music festival ashore , which now annually in Freistadt and the two churches of St. Peter near Freistadt takes place. From this activity, together with Peter Androsch, the group n: eam (network of European advanced music) arose , which maintains a lively cooperation with cooperation partners in Italy and Germany. Since 2012 his works have been published exclusively by edition Kulturquartier .

In addition to his work as a composer, Bernd Preinfalk has been forming the band Dr. with Didi Bruckmayr and Peter Androsch. Didi , who led a concert tour to the USA in 2017 .
