Hanno is an impact crater to the south of the front of the moon , southwest of Mare Australe and the Lyot crater , northeast of Pontécoulant . The rim of the crater is badly eroded and the interior is furrowed by smaller impacts.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Carthaginian explorer Hanno the Navigator .
