Village church Bebertal II

The listed village church in Bebertal II (former place Dönstedt), in the district of Börde in Saxony-Anhalt , is in the cemetery on the mountain slope south of the village. It was used again in 2015 for the first time in decades.

Architecture and history

The church building is a field stone building with a three-sided east end, plastered only on the front, which was added to a narrower Romanesque west tower (visible from the main street) in 1597 . In 1734 the manor's box was added on the north side. The wooden tracery windows are based on the late Gothic windows of the ship. The donor's inscription is located above the north portal in an architectural Renaissance frame.

The interior is almost completely devastated or removed. Only remnants of the earlier furnishings can still be seen. The ceiling design is designed in the form of a mirror vault. The west gallery dates from the time of the renovation . The pulpit altar with side passages is strictly architecturally in the Corinthian pilaster order , with acanthus cheeks . Baroque painting around 1660 is inserted into the parapet of the pulpit staircase, probably from the organ prospect. The chalice-shaped polygonal baptism made of sandstone , which was probably made around 1597, is provided with reliefs (on the cup of Christ between children and 5 women), framed by scrollwork and designed with fittings on the shaft. A bronze chandelier from 1730, a marble epitaph for AH v. Schenk († 1761) above the allegorically framed inscription cartouche Kronos between the heads of angels (presumably by Johann Jakob Hennicke from Magdeburg) and an alabaster grave for EA Schenk († 1777), antique, with urn top and warrior, in front of it a delicate wrought iron grille (inscribed JH Kromberg, Potsdam) were part of the equipment.

After several decades without use, the church was used again for a baptismal service and a Hubertus concert in 2015 . The rubble had previously been cleared from the church.
