Hanns Röttgen

Johannes ("Hanns") Röttgen (born September 21, 1887 in Aachen , † September 26, 1970 in Bonn ) was a German administrative lawyer.

After studying, Röttgen worked as a court clerk from 1910 and as a court assessor from 1914. From 1914 to 1918 he did military service. He then worked for the city administration of Aachen. He later came to the Reich Treasury Ministry as a consultant, where he was appointed to the government in 1920. From 1923 he was an unskilled worker in the Prussian Ministry of the Interior. In 1924 he was appointed to the Prussian government council and in 1925 to the upper government council.

From 1927 to 1932 he was district administrator in Mayen. After the National Socialists came to power, he was initially retired in 1933, then from 1933 to 1944 he was employed as Chief Staff Director in the Wehrmacht.

After the end of the Second World War, from 1945 to 1947 he was head of the Bonn city administration. From 1949 he was a civil servant in the Bundestag administration and from 1951 head of department (Dept. II Administration). In 1954 he retired with the rank of Ministerial Counselor.
