Hans-Christian Jürgensen began his racing career in the late 1960s. From 1968 to 1970 he drove a Porsche 911 in the German Automobile Circuit Championship (DARM) and individual GT races. At the race in Zolder in 1970 he achieved his first overall victory.

In 1971 he switched to a Porsche 914/6 and started with it in the DARM and a year later in the German Automobile Circuit Cup . With the 914/6 he was able to record several GT2.0 class wins in both racing series up to 1976. At the same time, he regularly drove in individual GT races, in which he achieved several victories and additional podium places. Occasionally, he started in 1972 and 1976 in some races of the 2nd division of the German Racing Championship (DRM).

When he switched to a Porsche 934 in 1977 , which he drove until 1979, he won races in the DARM five times in 1977 and 1978. In the DRM he drove a few races in the 1st division. His best DRM placement with the 934 was achieved in 1977 with 5th place in Kassel-Calden. In individual GT races from 1977 to 1979 he was able to record several overall and class victories.

From 1980 to 1981 Jürgensen drove a BMW M1 in the 1st division of the DRM. There he was able to place himself in the top ten places several times. Third place at the DRM run in 1981 in Wunstorf was his best placement in the DRM.

He drove his first long-distance race in 1977 in the sports car world championship with a Porsche 934 at the 6-hour race at Hockenheim, which he and Wolfgang Sell had to abandon after the 7th lap. In 1983 and 1984 he started together with Edgar Dören and other drivers such as Helmut Gall and Walter Mertes in a BMW M1 in the sports car world and European championships. There he celebrated three class wins in Group B in the 1000 km races in Monza , Imola and Silverstone .

From 1986 to 1990, Jürgensen drove a BMW M1 every year in Jyllandsringen, Denmark, and achieved a win in 1986 and second place in each of the following years. Then he ended his motorsport activities.
