Live and act

Schweiker studied the cello with Boris Mironowitsch Pergamenschtschikow at the Cologne University of Music and complemented his studies in chamber music with the members of the Amadeus Quartet , which existed until 1987, all of whom were also lecturers at the HfM Cologne at that time.

Schweiker then remained connected to the music college and initially received an assistant position with his former teacher Pergamenschtschikow. As a chamber musician, Schweiker then performed with Pergamenschtschikow, Tibor Varga , Bruno Giuranna, the Amadeus Quartet and other virtuosos in numerous European countries as well as in the United States of America and South Africa. In addition, he has received invitations to perform as a cello soloist with renowned orchestras at major European music centers. In the meantime, Schweiker won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Città di Castello .

In 1991, the Cologne University of Music finally appointed Schweiker as professor and assigned him the class for violoncello and chamber music at its Aachen department. In addition, Schweiker continues to lead international master classes in several European countries .

Due to their mutual preference for chamber music, he founded the "Trio Testore", named after the violin maker Carlo Giuseppe Testore , together with his wife, the pianist Hyun-Jung Kim-Schweiker and the violinist Franziska Pietsch . In their numerous nationwide appearances, such as at the Schubertiade Schloss Eyb in Dörzbach , the Giessener Meisterkonzert, the Bad Uracher and Rösrath Palace Concerts and others, they were able to convince both the audience and the press of their musicality and virtuosity. For the 10th anniversary, the Trio Testore has launched its own chamber music festival "May - Classic" in Alsdorf . A CD recording published in 2014 with works by Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky was nominated for the “International Classical Music Award (ICMA) 2015”. In 2015 the violinist Pietsch separated from the ensemble.
