Hans-Günter Eckerth (born November 18, 1925 in Dortmund ; † September 11, 2004 in Hilden ) was a German teacher and politician .

Life

In 1947 Eckerth was assigned to the Düsseldorf administrative district. He chose the industrial city of Hilden and worked as a junior teacher at the Schulstraße and Wiedenhof community elementary schools. Heinrich Strangmeier was the head of the school department at the time .

In 1956 he came to the Wilhelm-Fabry-Realschule (then still Städt. Knaben-Realschule ) founded in 1955 , where he became deputy director in 1961 and director from 1967, succeeding Heinrich an Huef. He retired in 1987 with the 40th anniversary of his service.

His political activity began in 1960 when he joined the SPD at the request of then mayor Robert Gies .

Eckerth's preferred subject areas were schools, youth and culture. So he influenced the local reorganization and the development of the Monument Protection Act in North Rhine-Westphalia . He was deputy chairman of the administrative board of the Kreissparkasse Düsseldorf for ten years and represented the Mettmann district in the Rhineland Regional Assembly and at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Elektrizitätswerke. He was one of the initiators of the town twinning with Nové Město nad Metují in Czechoslovakia , which he supported by giving German lessons there.

He was a founding member of the Rotary Club Hilden-Haan, founded in 1965 .
