from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans-Georg Beyer (born May 31, 1959 in Ludwigslust ) is a German computer scientist and university professor at the FH Vorarlberg .

Life

Beyer studied theoretical electrical engineering from 1977 to 1982 at the Technical University of Ilmenau (diploma thesis in the field of magnetic bubble storage ). He obtained his doctorate at the physics department of the Bauhaus University Weimar . The title of Gerhard Hilbig's dissertation was: An evolutionary process for the mathematical modeling of stationary states in dynamic systems.

From 1993 to 1996 he received a habilitation grant from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and completed his habilitation in 1997 at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Dortmund . From 1997 to 2002, as a Heisenberg fellow, he led a research group on evolutionary algorithms and then from 2003 to 2004 he worked as a computer science professor at the University of Dortmund.

Since 2004 he has held a research professorship for operation research, modeling and simulation at the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences . The focus of his work is in the field of evolutionary algorithms .

Beyer was editor-in-chief of the MIT press journal Evolutionary Computation from 2010 to January 2017 .
