Hans-Georg Knothe

Hans-Georg Knothe (born March 6, 1943 in Lodz ) is a German legal scholar.

Knothe studied law at the University of Bonn from 1964 to 1969 and passed his state exams in 1969 and 1973 respectively. From 1974 to 1976 he worked as a judge; from 1977 to 1987 then as a research assistant at the Institute for Roman Law, Civil Law and Civil Procedure Law at the University of Cologne with Andreas Wacke . 1980 Knothe was with his work " The legal capacity of minors in historical development " doctorate ; In 1985 he completed his habilitation with his thesis “ Das Erbbaurecht. A legal-dogmatic and legal-political investigation ”. In 1985 and 1986 he was also a substitute professor at the University of Osnabrück . From 1987 to 1995 Knothe was a lawyer in Cologne; from 1995 to 2009 holder of the chair for civil law and legal history at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald . Since 2011 he has been a member of the Historical Commission for Pomerania .
