Hans-Georg Petersen

Hans-Georg Petersen (born August 20, 1946 in Kiel ) is a German economist .

Life

Petersen studied economics at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (Diplom-Volkswirt, 1973). In 1977 he was promoted to Dr. sc. pol. PhD . He was then a Heisenberg and DFG scholarship holder. From 1978 to 1980 he worked at the Institute for the World Economy . In 1983 he completed his habilitation.

He then took over a professorship at the University of Linz . From 1985 to 1995 he was a professor at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . Most recently he was full professor at the University of Potsdam . He also held numerous visiting professorships in a. a. Moscow, Wisconsin, Łódź, Belgrade, Montpellier and Sydney. He was co-editor of journals such as Applied Economics Quarterly and quarterly economic research magazines .

Since 2001 he has been a research professor for the German Institute for Economic Research and as a consultant. Petersen is u. a. Member of the International Institute of Public Finance and the Verein für Socialpolitik .

He was co-signer of the Euro-critical manifesto The Monetary Policy Decisions of Maastricht: A Danger for Europe (1992) and the Hamburg Appeal (2005).
