Hans-Georg Schönemann (born November 4, 1946 in Elsterwerda ) is a former German football player who was active in the second-rate GDR league in the 1970s .

Athletic career

At the age of ten, Hans-Georg Schönemann began to play organized football for SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg . In 1963 the sports club was relocated to Cottbus , and Schönemann became a member of SC Cottbus . After he had become eligible to play for the men's area, the sports club first used him in the 2nd team from 1964, which played in the third-class district league Cottbus . In 1966 the football section of the sports club was incorporated into the newly founded company sports association (BSG) Energie Cottbus . Until 1967 Schönemann played for the 2nd teams of the Cottbus sports club and the BSG for three seasons in the district league and came to a total of 28 stakes in the game.

For the 1967/68 season, Schönemann joined the BSG Chemie Weißwasser , which was also represented in the district league. Schönemann played in Weißwasser until April 1969, after which he became a soldier in the National People's Army for three years . During this time he was active as a footballer for the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Cottbus . Until 1971 he was part of the 2nd team there, also in the district league. In the 1971/72 season Schönemann made his first appearances in the GDR league. In the 1st team of the ASG he was used in eight league games. He completed his first GDR league game on October 17, 1971 in the 7th match between EAB Lichtenberg 47 and ASG forward. In the 0-2 defeat he was substituted on in the 72nd minute. In his subsequent seven GDR league games, he was the right defender in the starting line-up, including his last appearance on December 19, 1971, when he played a 3-1 win for the army team on matchday 14 in the away game against Einheit Pankow . After his discharge from military service, he returned to the starting point of his footballing career in May 1972.

In the 1972/73 season Schönemann played with the BSG activist Brieske-Senftenberg again in the district league. With the BSG he was district champion and rose with her back to the GDR league. 1973/74 he completed his most successful season, in which he played all 22 league games and was top scorer in his team and in the league season D with twelve goals. Schönemann completed his last season in higher-class football in 1974/75. With 21 appearances in 22 league games, he was again a regular player and scored five more goals. The BSG activist had to relegate to the district league again at the end of the season. When she returned to the GDR league in 1976, Schönemann was no longer in the first team's squad, until 1978 he continued to play with Brieske II in the district league. When he ended his football career in 1978, his performance record contained 79 GDR league appearances with 17 goals scored.
