from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hans-Heinrich-Hütte was a steelworks in Langelsheim , located at the exit of the Innerstetal from the Harz . The term Hans-Heinrich-Hütte is occasionally still used for today's Innerstetal chemical site.

Rammelsberg and foreign ores were smelted here from 1913 to 1965 . In addition, zinc and lead-containing slags and the like came. a. from heaps of other, much older Unterharzer ironworks (e.g. Frau-Sophien-Hütte , Herzog-Julius-Hütte ). Mainly lead and lead alloys, zinc oxide and lithium compounds were produced . In 1921 the smelter was integrated into the Metallgesellschaft AG group. Production of the first technical lithium carbonate began here in 1923 . In 1965 the smelter ended. The production of lithium compounds, which had already begun in World War II , was continued.

Today, four legally independent chemical companies, some of which have developed from the original operation, and a logistics company are located at the site.
