Hans-Helmut Hunger

Hans-Helmut Hunger (* August 20, 1920 - April 7, 2014 ) was a German composer and general music director . In this function he headed the Central Music Corps of the FDJ and the pioneer organization Ernst Thälmann of the GDR (ZMK) from its founding on August 26, 1969 until its dissolution after reunification in 1990. For the (ZMK) he created many arrangements of popular titles for the sound body, such as the Beatles - Medley "Remembrance".

During this time, recordings were made under his direction, such as the 1973 long-playing record "Singende Fanfaren".

In 1973 he received the GDR National Prize, First Class for Art, for his services in the development of the ZMK, in particular in the design of the opening event of the 10th World Festival of Youth and Students.

In 1984 he again received the GDR National Prize for Art, 1st Class, for the outstanding artistic and mass-effective design of the final concert of the GDR National Youth Festival "association meeting of the FDJ.

Hans-Helmut Hunger lived on Falkenberg in Berlin-Grünau until his death . His grave is in the Altglienicke cemetery.
