The Central Music Corps of the FDJ and the pioneer organization Ernst Thälmann of the GDR was an orchestra of the GDR , which consisted of over 3000 musicians from the orchestral categories of minstrels , fanfares , fanfares and wind bands. It was founded on August 26, 1969.

The Central Music Corps of the Free German Youth (FDJ) and the pioneer organization Ernst Thälmann (ZMK) was founded on August 26, 1969 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the GDR. Hans-Helmut Hunger was the musical director .

It appeared on major occasions in the GDR, such as the World Festival , gymnastics and sports festivals , pioneer meetings , Pentecost meetings , national youth festivals and the 750th anniversary celebration in Berlin . It often played together with the district music corps of the 15 districts of the GDR .

The ZMK has also performed abroad with a selection orchestra, for example in the Soviet Union , Cuba and Japan .

On April 1, 1990, the music corps was dissolved in the course of German reunification .
