Hans-Hennig von Grünberg

Hans-Hennig von Grünberg (* 1965 in Eckernförde ) is a German physicist .

Life

Von Grünberg studied physics at RWTH Aachen University and the Free University of Berlin from 1985 to 1993 . In 1994 he received his doctorate with a thesis in the field of theoretical solid state physics . The habilitation followed in 2002.

In 1995 he became an assistant to Roger Elliott in the Department of Theoretical Physics at the University of Oxford . From 1998 von Grünberg was Rudolf Klein's assistant in the physics department at the University of Konstanz . In 2002 he received a grant from the Heisenberg program of the German Research Foundation in the field of statistical colloid physics . In 2004 he was appointed university professor for theoretical physical chemistry at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz . From 2007 to 2009 he was research and vice dean there . In 2009 he was elected President of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences ; In 2015 he was re-elected President of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and in March 2020 he handed over his office to Thomas Grünewald .

Von Grünberg was a founding member of the University Alliance for SMEs in 2014 and has been its first chairman ever since. In 2017 he was named University Manager of the Year by the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT and the Center for Higher Education Development.

Von Grünberg is married and has five children.
