Hans-Hermann Francke

Hans-Hermann Francke (born August 12, 1943 in Posen ) is a German economist and professor emeritus for finance and money management at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg .

Life

Hans-Hermann Francke studied at the University of Hamburg from 1965 to 1970. He graduated with a diploma in economics . His doctorate at the University of Freiburg took place in 1974, followed by his habilitation in 1980. Five years later he became an associate professor for economics, especially finance, at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . The University of Freiburg finally appointed him Professor of Finance and Money Management in 1988. Here he gave lectures on the subjects of economics, public finances and money economy. In 2000 he received an honorary doctorate in economics from the University of Basel .

He is a member of the Society of Social Policy, the Western Economic Association, the International Institute of Public Finance (IIPF) and the Société Universitaire Européenne de Recherches Financières (SUERF).

Research priorities and other academic activities

Francke worked on projects with a focus on theoretical and empirical problems of national debt and monetary policy . He was also the managing editor of the financial journal “ Kredit und Kapital” . In the meantime he was also the Academic Director of the Administration and Business Academy and the German Real Estate Academy at the University of Freiburg , of which he is now Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Francke was one of the signatories of the Euro-critical manifesto The Monetary Policy Decisions of Maastricht: A Danger for Europe (1992) and the Hamburg Appeal (2005).
