Hans-Jürgen Baake (born March 2, 1954 ) is a former German soccer player .

In his youth, Baake played at MSV Duisburg and won the German A Youth Championship there in 1972 , scoring the decisive 1-0 penalty in the final against VfB Stuttgart .

He signed his first professional contract in 1972 with third division club VfL Osnabrück , where he played for two years and promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with him in 1974 .

At the end of the season Baake moved to the first division club Wuppertaler SV . At the end of the season, the team was relegated to the 2nd division, where Baake finally became a regular player and played all of the season's games.

This performance convinced the Bundesliga club Tennis Borussia Berlin , where he moved in 1976. But as in Wuppertal , the team was relegated at the end of the same season. In his second season, Baake was initially again a regular player, but then did not play in the league for a year and a half.

During the 1978/79 winter break, Baake therefore moved to the first division of the Bundesliga for local rivals Hertha BSC , who were threatened with relegation . On his seventh appearance on matchday 32 against Borussia Dortmund , he was brutally fouled by his opponent Mirko Votava and had to switch to sports disability at the age of 26.
