Hans-Jürgen Drescher

Hans-Jürgen Drescher (* 1954 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) is President of the August Everding Theater Academy in Munich .

Life

Drescher studied German, philosophy, history and art history in Marburg, Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. From 1980 to 1987 he was dramaturge at the Frankfurt Opera under Michael Gielen and Klaus Zehelein , afterwards chief dramaturge at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen and at the drama of the Nationaltheater Mannheim .

From 1991 to 2011 he was director of the Suhrkamp Theater- und Medienverlag , as well as lecturer and honorary professor for dramaturgy at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main and at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. In 1994 he was appointed to the German Academy of Performing Arts and was elected President in 2016. From 2011 to 2014 he was artistic director and managing director of the Academy for Performing Arts Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg.

Since the 2014/2015 season he has been President of the August Everding Theater Academy in Munich and head of the Dramaturgy course .
