Hans-Jürgen Groth

Hans-Jürgen Groth (born November 8, 1951 in Hamburg ) is a German lawyer and former member of the Hamburg Parliament for the SPD .

Act

In 1971 Groth began studying law at the University of Hamburg . In addition, he took on various positions in student and academic self-administration. He worked with the Young Socialists and the Socialist University Association before joining the SPD. After completing his legal clerkship, he passed the exam to become an assessor and has been working as a lawyer since 1980.

In January 1983 he moved up as a member of the Hamburg parliament. He worked there until 1986, mainly in the Legal Committee and the Committee on Food and Agriculture . As a permanent representative, he sat in the Committee on Property and Public Enterprises and in the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry “Neue Heimat” .

Hans-Jürgen Groth is a member of the board of the Heinrich Maria Ledig-Rowohlt Foundation . The purpose of the foundation is to promote German-language literary translations and to advertise the annual Heinrich Maria Ledig Rowohlt Prize.
