The Transilien N line is part of the Transilien network in the Paris metropolitan area . It connects the center of Paris with the south-western suburbs. The line starts at Paris Montparnasse station . In its course, the line divides into three branches. The branches end at the stations of Mantes-la-Jolie , Dreux and Rambouillet .

history

On September 10, 1840, the Paris-Montparnasse-Viroflay-Rive-Gauche line was opened as part of the Paris-Brest railway. Three years later, on May 9, 1843, the Épône-Mézières – Mantes-la-Jolie section, which is part of the Paris – Havre line , was opened. An extension from Viroflay-Rive-Gauche to Rambouillet was finally put into operation on July 12, 1849.

At the end of 2004, the Transilien line N went into operation on this route.
