Orlyval

After the liquidation of the operating company in 1993, it is operated by RATP and today by OrlyVal Service SA, a 99 percent subsidiary of RATP. It is a special line with a particularly high fare and cannot be used with season tickets.

The cost of a one-way trip (adult) is € 10.25 including the metro. (As of July 1, 2010)

The suffix “-val” stands for Véhicule automatique léger , light automated vehicle. These are driverless, automatically controlled vehicles that run on rubber tires. Each train consists of two cars. It was developed by the vehicle manufacturer Matra from 1971 and initially introduced in Lille .

The route traveled by the Orlyval trains is about 7.3 km long and has a pendulum character. A separate tariff applies, zone or multi-day RATP tickets are not valid here. The only exception is the Paris Visite tourist ticket for zones 1 to 5 (as of July 1, 2007). The train ticket for a trip to Paris is also valid for the entire Paris metro (as of July 2019). Within the airport, the Orlyval serves as a free means of transport between the train stations Orly 1,2,3 (formerly Orly-West) and Orly 4 (formerly Orly-South). The travel time here is 2 minutes, between Antony and Orly 1,2,3 it is 6 minutes. The route is used by 8 trains with two wagons each. During rush hour in the morning or in the late afternoon, the trains run every 4 minutes. The departure times are adjusted to the arrival and departure times of the RER B in Antony.

The operating times are daily from 6 a.m. to approx. 11.35 p.m. (as of July 2019) from Orly 1,2,3. Approx. 3 million passengers are carried annually.

Platform with platform screen doors

There are only the three stations Antony (RER line B), Orly 1,2,3 (formerly Orly-Ouest) and Orly 4 (formerly Orly-Sud) . The Orlyval was founded because of the connection between Orly and RER B. For safety reasons, the platforms are provided with platform screen doors.
